I feel like sugar has become one of the most stressful parts of feeding kids.

There’s a lot of messaging out there— that it’s addictive, that it needs to be limited, that it’s something to be really careful with.

And I get where that comes from.

But I also see how quickly it turns into parents feeling like they have to constantly monitor, manage, and control it.

Which is… a lot.

For babies and younger toddlers, there is some guidance to limit added sugar as much as possible before age 2 (with special exceptions like 1st birthday party cake, of course).

That can be a helpful general framework.

But after that, the goal shifts.

It becomes less about avoiding sugar entirely and more about helping kids learn how to be around it.
